We can design our spaces to help our health, happiness, and longevity by making drinking water options accessible. I always love to put clean, cool, great tasting water options that are easier to get than the can of soda in the fridge. But, our water is not always the healthiest. You have to look at the s

ource of your water. You have to look at how the water gets to your tap from the source. You have to look at changing conditions with the water supply that might impact your water.

We live in a rural location, so we have a well. While you might think that mountain well water is pristine, our area has had mining, firefighting, and agriculture that can impact water by leaching metals, forever chemicals, and other contaminants. We are on a granite mountain. Granite lets off radioactive particles. We have to watch for that.

Before worrying about it all, the best thing is to get it tested. We just completed our testing. Ours was thorough, because of the well. We are under the limits on everything. Awesome! But, we do want to address some of the contaminants, just in case things shift in the future. If you are on a municipal water supply, you can rely on their regular testing. Up in the hills where we are, we need to be more thorough because our testing is not as regular.

If you are looking for advice on testing and filtering, take a look at this Wirecutter article. I will update you on what we found and what we are doing in a future post!
